SEASONAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
HOUSEKEEPING: Clean guest rooms, bathrooms, lobby, halls, stairs, sundecks, spa and pool areas. Vacuum, dust, make beds, clean bathtubs, sinks, floors, toilets, mirrors, windows, straighten furniture, remove trash and recycle. Special projects may also be assigned. Top performers may assist in training others and work in laundry.
LAUNDRY: Sort sheets, towels. Learn operation of large commercial washers and dryers. Load and unload laundry, fold clean linens, stock staff carts and storerooms.
NIGHT FRONT DESK: EXCELLENT ENGLISH REQUIRED.
9:30 PM - 3:30 AM, 3-4 nights per week. Late night guest check-ins, front desk clerical & phone duties, check & maintain building security, night laundry, stocking linen rooms and carts. Must be comfortable working alone and late night hours. Top performers have assisted on day shifts also. May work part-time, during the day or afternoons in other departments when night front desk shifts allow. Winter Night Front Desk is a combination job where student works part-time in housekeeping and laundry other days when night front desk hours allow.
LANDSCAPING-LIGHT MAINTENANCE:
MUST HAVE DRIVER'S LICENSE AND GOOD ENGLISH SKILLS.
Cut grass at 3 properties, weed control, prune shrubs, water, fertilize, assist in planting and transplanting shrubs or trees, garden care and clean-up, miscellaneous exterior clean-up or light maintenance. Interior painting and inside projects on rainy days. Outside, physical work. Does mid-day laundry pick-up and deliveries between properties. Responsible to drive company van. Some lifting of landscape equipment & laundry boxes & bags. Motivated and able to work on your own with minimal supervision.
EVERYONE HELPS IN WINTER:
Since we are in a northern climate, and winter sports bring visitors to our area, all applicants should be willing to shovel snow occasionally as needed.
Many of our staff find 2nd part-time, evening jobs in town.
2. INTERNSHIPS (WORK-TRAINING PROGRAM)
Internship focus is in the area of Front Offices-Guest services where trainee will get the broadest experiences in a variety of business and people skills, concepts and problem solving; apply math and accounting skills to daily balancing and guest transactions; use a variety of office equipment and become fluent in a computer Property Management and Reservation System; interface with various departments and staff to understand the importance of knowing how those departments operate efficiently; will be introduced to human resources skills to effectively schedule and train other department staff; learn how the lodging business applies the 5 basic principles of Marketing, and learn how to apply this kind of thinking and analysis to many other types of problem solving and decision making; focus on pricing and pricing philosophy based on our unique market; learn how to apply "yield management" on a daily basis and utilize selling skills to maximize revenue and occupancy relative to competition; learn how customers change from season to season and how our promotional programs change accordingly.
Students who enjoy the out-of-doors, active sports, and who do not need the busy social whirl, pubs and shopping malls of a large city will be most comfortable here.
